Bulk Shipment of Solar Air Conditioners in 40-Foot High Cube Containers to the Middle East
Recently, a batch of solar-powered air conditioners equipped with the latest photovoltaic-storage direct-drive technology was successfully loaded into containers in Suzhou, and shipped in 40-foot high cube containers to the key Middle Eastern hubs — Jeddah Islamic Port in Saudi Arabia and Jebel Ali Port in the United Arab Emirates.
With the advancement of Saudi Vision 2030, the local government is vigorously promoting the share of renewable energy. Solar air conditioners — particularly the integrated "PV + air conditioning" solution launched by the ERIET brand — have gained great popularity in the region due to their "plug-and-play, inverter-loss-free" characteristics. This batch of equipment is capable of stable operation under extreme high temperatures of up to 58°C and achieves "zero electricity bill" cooling, perfectly addressing the pain points of customers in the Middle East.
Inside the Container: The "Black Tech" in a 40-Foot High Cube
At the loading site, workers are carefully securing split-type solar air conditioner components into 40-foot high cube containers.
This shipment is not composed of traditional household appliances, but rather a microgrid system. The core advantage of this delivery lies in the integration of MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) technology and DC direct-drive technology. Traditional solutions require photovoltaic panels to generate DC power → convert it to AC via an inverter → then rectify it back to DC for the air conditioner, resulting in energy losses as high as 15%–20%. In contrast, the new "PV-storage-AC" solution enables DC power from solar panels to directly drive the air conditioner, and can even store surplus electricity in batteries for nighttime use.
New Cross-Border Trend: More Than Just Selling Products
The shipment of this 40-foot high cube container marks a shift for Chinese air conditioner enterprises — from "product exports" to "energy solution exports."
A purchaser from Dubai, UAE, commented: "In the past, we bought compressors. Now, we're buying the integrated 'PV-storage-AC' unit. This equipment comes with its own power generation capability. After installation, customers see their electricity bills drop by over 70%. It practically sells itself."
The shipment has already departed from Chinese waters aboard an ocean-going vessel and is expected to arrive at Jeddah Port in 22 to 25 days. If customs clearance goes smoothly, this batch of "Intelligent Manufacturing in China" will play a key role in the upcoming hot summer in the Middle East.
